Associate Service Technician with an Electrical Scope

Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting with start-up and warranty service for all CHC product lines. Identity and/or repair replacement needs; providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment, and assisting in other skilled trades as required.

Drug Test

Please note that this position is a safety sensitive position (a job in which an impairment caused by drug or alcohol usage would threaten the health or safety of any person) that requires passing all drug tests.

We are looking for some specifics for this role. Check out this list:

  1. NFPA 70E Certified: candidate shall be trained on electrical safety
  2. Electric boiler startup and service experience preferred
  3. VFD startup and service experience preferred
  4. EPA Universal Refrigeration license preferred
  5. Experience working on live electrical panels up to 480Vac 3Phase

Technical

  • Perform new equipment start-ups, tuning, troubleshooting, repairing, and providing technical direction for customers and maintenance personnel.
  • Perform equipment startup and warranty repair by verifing equipment is installed, setup and programmed to manufacturer’s Installation & Operation Manuals (IOM’s).
  • Equipment includes but is not limited to all the equipment on CHC’s line card: pumps, boilers, water heaters, FlowTherm package systems, chillers, cooling towers, heat pumps, and VFD’s.
  • Set-up communications between equipment and troubleshoot interface with Building Management Systems.
  • Add manufacturer recommended hardware components in the field when needed.
  • Perform wiring or rewiring between electrical panels and CHC equipment as required.
  • Perform voltage measurements on live equipment up to 480 volts.
  • Work with live panels that potentially present arc flash hazards.
  • Update equipment system software as required.
  • Troubleshoot systems utilizing diagnostic tools such as data loggers, multi-meters, process meters, laser alignment tools, and combustion analyzers.
  • Keep up to date on the equipment on CHC’s line card.
  • Provide start-up, operating, and maintenance training for the customer.
  • Attend factory schools, virtual or in person, for training as assigned.
  • Pursue additional formal education as needed, and reimbursed (per handbook) by, CHC.

Customer Service

  • Offer telephone support for start-up and troubleshooting.
  • Present a professional, positive, and helpful attitude always when with customers and co-workers. Exhibit an understanding of human relations and functions as a “team player”.
  • Observe additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report those to the appropriate supervisor and a recommendation of necessary/needed replacement parts/equipment.

Administration

  • Submit timely reports.
  • Responsible for truck tool inventory.

Miscellaneous

  • Always work safely.
  • Adhere to department and company policies and procedures.
  • Willing/able to work autonomously with minimum supervision while working on assignment(s).
  • Based upon business needs, you may be required to work overtime.
  • Adhere to company policy regarding rest and meal breaks.
  • If necessary, ability to work out- of- town and stay overnight to complete work.
  • Maintain company vehicle by following the vehicle manufacturer’s suggested maintenance intervals

No Supervisory Responsibilities. Travel is expected for this position.
Required and Education Experience

  • Knowledge of, and commitment to, continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks according to company goals and objectives.
  • Strong technical skills, diagnostic capabilities, and aptitude to learn new technologies and systems.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Basic or intermediate writing skills.
  • General computer experience with MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Preferred and Education Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience related to CHC’s equipment in commercial or industrial applications, such as: HVAC, plumbing, boilers, pumping.
  • Knowledge of direct digital controls and VFD experience are desirable.
  • Where applicable, relevant licenses pertaining to HVAC, EPA, electrical, plumbing, boilers.
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Associates Degree from accredited school in any of the following: a plus
    • Electrical/Electronics
    • HVAC
    • Plumbing
    • Boiler


Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, up to 50lbs, and work in various environments
- Stand, squat, bend, and climb as required to perform job duties
