We are seeking an individual who is passionate about joining a team in the manufacturing of high quality laminates and films used in a variety of applications including on cabinetry in kitchen and bath applications, countertops and paneling in recreational vehicles and in the enhancement of interior retail spaces.

Job Summary

The Associate Product Manager works directly with the Product Manager to manage new and existing product lines, execute product/market-based service programs, and facilitate communications between other functional groups. The Associate Product Manager has the responsibility to manage the stock product portfolio and pricing established by Product Manager to include 3D Laminates, Flat Laminates, Paper Flat Laminates, and Specialty Laminates. The position plays a key role in the tactical execution and implementation of marketing strategies for the Laminates business as directed by Product Manager. This position has no direct reports but works closely with various manufacturing and operational teams at each location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercialization process for all product line extensions and new designs.
  • Identify and lead the consolidation and rationalization of current products where applicable to discontinue (annually).
  • Ensure products inventory turn targets are achieved and obsolescence is minimized.
  • Review product profit level and recommend adjustments at the sales, technical, and/or manufacturing levels to improve.
  • Work with manufacturing to maintain product performance or improvements when raw material or product process changes are implemented – build and maintain relationships with these stakeholders.
  • Understand product placement, application, and areas of product development to meet changing customer and market needs.
  • Lead and manage all daily pricing activities for current stock products and constructions to maximize profitability.
  • Provide timely resolution and communication to Sales Representatives regarding price deviation requests.
  • Manage stock and make to order published price pages, special price lists for customers.
  • Lead and manage all price increases to ensure successful implementation and financial targets are met.
  • Analyze data, identify, and recommend areas for positive price gains.
  • Work with Product Manager to develop action plan for accounts and products below target gross margin.
  • Participate in Customer Service and Manufacturing meetings to resolve scheduling/service conflicts when needed.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make informed decisions.
  • Drive the implementation of current commercial policies and implement changes as needed.
  • Manage customer sampling and trial processes to ensure customer needs are met while streamlining internal resources.
  • Recommend action to be taken as indicated by analysis and evaluation of assigned product markets and marketing strategies.
  • Work independently to manage their projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with others to ensure alignment of initiatives.
  • Participate in product development activity and provide insight into market trends, product innovations.
  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing collateral.
  • Monitor new market development and trends through trade journal, conferences, and interaction with the field.
  • Participate at trade show exhibitions.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA Business discipline.
  • Prior experience in product management, costing or pricing a plus including recent graduates with coop experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities - bias for action with a proven track record of achieving results.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple needs/issues at a time.
  • Excellent communications skills: both verbal and written.
  • Computer proficiency required, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; SAP background preferred.
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment while being an effective team player.

Work Environment and Environmental Conditions

Low to moderate noise in workplace setting.
Travel requirements are approximately 10% – 20%.
