With nine (9) offices throughout California, the Company has provided services to the transportation, water resources, government services, and federal markets for nearly 60 years, and with the influx of capital via their sponsor, are well positioned to build on and exceed their previous growth trajectory in the future.


MNS is hiring an Associate Planner for its California offices. This position has the option of being remote (with the ability to be in an office when necessary), or a having a hybrid work schedule with days in one of the nine Central Coast the office and days at home.


SUMMARY OF POSITION

MNS Engineers is seeking a solution focused, results-oriented Associate Planner to support our California offices. Reporting to the Senior Planner, the Associate Planner will be responsible professional planning work of moderate difficulty.


As our Associate Planner, you will be responsible for Interpreting and applying applicable state, county and local codes, ordinances and regulations You will Initiate actions necessary to correct deficiencies or violations of regulations.


Additionally, you will Assist with updates and maintenance of comprehensive plan and land development regulations. Conduct reviews of various development applications including plats, permits, site plans, variance requests and rezoning.


In this role you will identify community problems, issues, and opportunities in particular neighborhoods that could be mitigated through better Community Planning and develop long range plans for communities with common developmental issues.


Responsibilities also include creating strategies to promote economic and community development or efficient land use consistent with community goals. Evaluating adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs. You will Recommend priorities, schedules, and funding sources to implement public improvements plan.


You will assist in writing a variety of ordinances and regulations relating to development controls and attend a substantial number of evening and weekend meetings.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of one or more planning specializations, such as land use planning/zoning, transportation planning, environmental planning, urban design, housing, historic preservation, or economic development.

The role requires knowledge statistical, algebraic, or geometric knowledge and ability to apply such knowledge in practical situations as well as computer programs and applications, which may include Microsoft Office, Internet applications econometric or transportation modeling, database management and GIS applications.


The minimum education and licensure requirements are a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science or Natural Resources, and 3 years of experience.


A valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver’s record are required.
