Associate Packaging Engineer

Dart Container is looking for an enthusiastic Associate Packaging Engineer that can apply their Packaging Engineering knowledge and skills to moderately complex engineering projects.

Day-to-Day Role:

• Participate in and complete projects or programs of minimal size, scope, and duration
• Develop understanding of packaging development cycles and key substrates such as films, bags, corrugated, paperboard, and pallets
• Develop knowledge of processes, equipment, raw materials, and products
• Document, track, and maintain current and archived Bill of Materials (BOM), specifications, CAD drawings, and artwork files
• Assists more experienced Packaging Engineers in proper package selection, manufacturing feasibility, and specifications
• Establish packaging components specifications for new products and change requests
• Utilize ArtiosCAD to develop 2D and 3D structural packaging designs
• Research and assist in implementing cost savings opportunities for the Company and external customer
• Identify broad conceptual ideas and develop them into useful solutions
• Participate in troubleshooting, analysis, evaluation, implementation, and documentation of packaging solutions and assist in the specification and implementation of packaging equipment
• Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products
• Utilize existing test parameters to participate in the testing and implementation of engineering solutions
• Recommend continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

• Requires one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study, OR
  • Associate’s degree and six (6) years of related engineering experience
• Experience using CAD design software to develop structural packaging designs
• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products
• Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
• Ability to learn and understand raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
• Ability to successfully prioritize, and organize projects, deadlines, and tasks in both team and independent environments 
• Strong verbal and written skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related information

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of ArtiosCAD
