Job Description
The Therapist Associate practices in a community setting with diverse populations (3 - 5 year olds) under clinical supervision and is dedicated to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders - located at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. They will collaborate with patients to evaluate and diagnose Mental Health concerns, provide individual/family therapy, facilitate group therapy sessions to reduce and /or resolve symptoms of psychiatric disorders. The Therapist Associate will utilize established best practice approaches and standards; complete assessment of patient risk to self-and/or others; complete and implement risk reduction/mitigation plans to ensure patient and community safety; incorporate evidence-based approaches to psychotherapy including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. This position works under clinical supervision, with a supervision plan to achieve licensure with a qualified supervisor in WA State.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling or Behavioral Sciences from an approved school or
  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) in an education program accredited by the council on social work education and approved by the secretary based upon nationally recognized standards.
  • Washington Advanced Social Worker Associate License (Vendor Managed) Or
  • Washington Advanced Social Worker Associate Temporary License Or
  • Washington Clinical Independent Social Worker Associate License Or
  • Washington Clinical Independent Social Worker Associate Temporary License Or
  • Washington Marriage and Family Therapist Associate License Or
  • Washington Mental Health Counselor Associate License Or
  • Washington Mental Health Counselor Associate Temporary License upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year Master's level practicum in a behavioral health setting in an accredited college or university internship.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
