Summary Description

The Associate Manager, Management Company is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of client Management Companies. This position requires a mastery of complex operational accounting skills, the ability to oversee the complete financial reporting and direct oversight of associates. This position serves as a resource to other members of the team, providing guidance, coaching, training and additional support as needed. his position will require regular interaction with clients, team members and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review and approve all monthly and quarterly packages to distribute to the CEO and CFO's reporting the performance of the Management Company;
• Oversee the preparation of schedules to support the general ledger balances reported in the financial statements;
• Ensure all transactions entered into accounting software are completed accurately;
• Act as the 401k Administrator for client plans, approving all 401k loans, distributions, rollover requests, approve 401k contributions and calculated match contributions;
• Prepare budget and forecast schedules;
• Review and approve all semi-monthly or monthly payroll cycles in the appropriate payroll system;
• Communicate directly with the General Partners/CFO and respond promptly to their requests to provide them with the information they require;
• Maintain fixed assets, calculate depreciation and Section 179;
• Interact with auditors and provide them with reports/support to assist them during the audit;
• Provide supervision, guidance and coaching to the team, including regular training support as needed;
• Coordinates and completes special projects as directed by management.

Problem Resolution and Administration

• Demonstrate mastery of technical skillset including use of Excel; in automation of monthly/quarterly workbooks and financial statements;
• Demonstrate mastery of subject matter when advising client on various accounting treatments, questions or concerns;
• Consistent resource for other team members with regard to technical questions or pertaining to questions on various accounting treatments;
• Demonstrate mastery in the ability to advise clients on U.S. GAAP principals in addition to "Book-to-Tax" treatments;
• Comprehensive understanding and mastery of the two methods of accounting for cash and accrual accounting;
• Ability to complete advance analysis on agreements provided by the clients, including in the review of promissory notes, proper interest calculations, lease agreements, etc.
• Ability to multi-task between different tasks and internal demands throughout the day;
• Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; internal company and team trainings; maintains personal networks; participates in professional development opportunities and;
• Additional duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skills

• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, methods, procedures, internal controls with the ability to exercise good judgement in selecting and interpreting information;
• Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand the clients' business and maintain strong client relationships;
• Dedication and motivation to achieve high standards of client service and professional in the performance of duties;
• Ability to organize and prioritize work, assisting in the coordination of the work of other team members as needed;
• Advanced computer and technical skills, including the use of MS Office Suite and other financial systems;
• Ability to effectively provide team members and others with information, training and assistance as needed;
• Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex accounting procedures and analysis; preparation of work papers; general knowledge of financial reporting;
• Demonstrate sound research, interpretive and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• 3 - 5+ years' (relevant) experience in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred;
• 0 - 2+ years' supervisory experience in the following: performance management (including coaching, progressive discipline, performance review delivery etc.), training, talent acquisition and retention;
• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field;
• Advanced degree (MBA or MSA) in Accounting or related field strongly preferred;
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is strongly preferred;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with knowledge of QuickBooks;
• Experience in payroll software including ADP, Insperity, TriNet and Gusto, a plus;
• Ability to multitask, time management, attention to detail, planning and problem-solving skills required;
• Ability to communicate and interact professionally and effectively through written and oral communication with current and potential clients;
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
