Associate General Counsel:
The Associate General Counsel is responsible for providing general legal support to fulfill the legal function of an ENR Top 50 construction company, reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, and working with the Deputy General Counsel, Legal Specialist, and Legal Coordinator.
Required Skills
Essential Functions:
- First-line responsibility to provide legal advice and services to:
- The Purchasing Department with respect to the negotiation of subcontracts and purchase orders consistent with established policies; and
- The Marketing Department to assure that proposal responses comply with legal disclosure requirements and that the Company complies with awarding authority disclosure laws, regulations, or procedures.
- Assist with contract drafting, administration, review and negotiation.
- Assist the Legal Department in managing the legal needs of the company by providing pre-litigation and litigation support, including performing legal research, discovery tasks, and managing legal research by outside counsel.
- Responsible for tracking, monitoring, and calendaring activities related to pending litigation and administrative proceedings to which the Company is a party or witness.
- As directed by the Chief Legal Officer or General Counsel, engage with all departments to assist in the development of affirmative claims and defense of claims against the Company and provide internal support to outside counsel with respect to investigating facts or responding to discovery requests, subpoenas, and other legal process.
- Support Consigli University as a training resource on construction law and related subjects, including orientation training on the Consigli Code of Conduct.
- Provide advice and assistance to the Accounting Department with respect to ensuring and tracking compliance with all public reporting and registration obligations under Consigli's operating jurisdictions, and the preparation, execution and filing of corporate documents, including organizing documents, annual reports, meeting minutes, votes, resolutions, and joint venture agreements.
- Manage the content of the Legal Department's presence on the Consigli Intranet, including developing, maintaining, and updating the forms library, topical legal memos, training PowerPoints, and other useful content.
- Provide general assistance to meet the legal needs of the Company.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand (including standing on construction sites for extended periods of time); walk (including walking on construction sites which may require climbing stairs); use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Nights and weekend work may be necessary, as required.
Travel:
Travel to and from regional offices and construction jobsites is required.
This position requires up to 10 percent travel.
Required Education and Experience:
- Law degree from an accredited ABA approved law school.
- Admitted to the MA and/or NY bar.
- 2 to 5 years' experience in a law firm or corporate legal department environment.
- Experience in construction law and litigation.
- Experience with AIA Documents.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience as a practicing litigator.
- Broad overview experience in construction law, including federal and state public construction projects.
- Exposure to or familiarity with the following areas of law: insurance, contract, employment, labor, and ESOPs.
- Experience dealing with the OSHA.
- Secondary admission to ME, CT, NY, DC, VA, MD, or NC bar.
