SUMMARY:
The Associate General Counsel will support the Chief Legal Officer, executives, sales managers and other employees to provide legal support, guidance, advice, and contractual support. Your work will be valuable, dynamic, fast-paced, and time-sensitive.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
•Provide legal support, guidance, advice, and risk assessment to stakeholders within the global organization in all areas, including, but not limited to, drafting contracts, assisting with legal related disputes, supporting procurement and commercial sales matters, and assisting with business transactions.
•Manage contract workflow via Pelican's contract management software and serve as a point of contact for business personnel on all contractual matters.
•Manage, and provide legal education and training to employees related to contract negotiations.
•Manage outside counsel and utilization of external legal resources to maximize efficient, competent, and quality representation while maintaining a prudent budget.
•Collaborate with Pelican employees to interpret contracts and resolve disputes related to contractual provisions.
•Develop and/or revise policies related to legal matters.
•Assist with the design and implementation of longer-term legal department projects and analyses.
•Perform additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and an active member in good standing of the Bar.
•10+ years of legal experience in a nationally recognized large law firm, and/or experience as an in-house counsel is preferred.
•Business-oriented problem-solver who strikes the appropriate balance between facilitating business transactions while managing risks.
•Demonstrated capabilities in working independently, managing tasks to completion, and delivering high quality results while handling multiple assignments.
•Exposure to master service agreements, SaaS agreements, real estate leases, international agreements, manufacturing purchase orders' terms and conditions, and other vendor and customer related commercial agreements is required.
•A strong desire to learn the commercial and technical business of Pelican to better identify and manage risks while working to close commercial transactions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Position may be performed remotely, in a hybrid setting, or in the office in our Torrance, California; Maple Grove, Minnesota; South Deerfield, Massachusetts or Albuquerque, New Mexico offices.
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard and non-standard physical activities (i.e., stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers, climb, balance, stoop, kneel).
