Who We're Looking For:

DISQO is looking for an experienced, versatile and business-minded Associate General Counsel with at least 9 years of relevant experience. The Associate General Counsel will serve as a trusted partner across all departments with a broad and diverse range of responsibilities and is a crucial role at DISQO.

The Associate General Counsel will work with other leaders in the company on strategic priorities in order to develop and implement scalable programs and processes, and will provide practical legal counsel in areas including privacy, transactions and strategic contracts (service-related, SaaS, vendor, and technology agreements), compliance, marketing, employment and a broad range of other legal and business matters impacting DISQO. Reporting to and working with DISQO's General Counsel, you will be relied on by all teams within DISQO, and will have a critical impact on the entirety of the business.

What you get to do:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and serve as a key point of contact to provide legal advice and support for all aspects of the business.
    • Work on significant and essential transactions and programs such as privacy, regulatory and compliance, and business partnerships.
    • Draft, negotiate and advise on a wide range of agreements, including strategic partnerships, commercial, employment, corporate and other agreements in a business-friendly manner.
    • Work cross functionally across the company to analyze legal risks, devise creative solutions and develop strong, trusted relationships.
    • Support and advise on consumer privacy initiatives, such as those related to GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and COPPA, for both end user facing services and clients to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws and best industry practices.
    • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of policies, forms, trainings, and processes to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Draft, review, and negotiate master agreements with enterprise customers and work closely with our Sales organization to close high value revenue deals.
    • Remain up-to-date and advise on relevant industry, consumer protection, advertising, IP, and privacy and data security laws, regulations and developments to provide sound legal and compliance advice.
    • Develop trusted relationships with all internal teams and create and/or improve internal processes to help both the legal function as well as the business generally.
What you'll bring to the role:
    • At least 9 years of combined, relevant experience as in-house counsel and/or with a major law firm.
    • Excellent legal and business judgment with the ability to think critically, strategically, and creatively; ability to appropriately analyze and determine practical, real-world risks is crucial.
    • Business-minded: ability to understand business goals to analyze risk and generate pragmatic and effective solutions to help meet those goals.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to map innovative and clear solutions to complex problems while managing multiple projects.
    • Able to communicate (verbal and written) effectively on complex issues; ability to explain complex legal matters in plain language and balance between benefits and practical risks to DISQO.
    • Excellent drafting and negotiating skills, and mastery of the theory that less is more in contracts.
    • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment without the need for micro-management; a strong desire to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done.
    • Attention to detail, business-friendly, and a fantastic teammate and team player who is able to think creatively and accommodate tight deadlines.
    • Experience working on privacy and data protection matters, including knowledge of and experience with US and global privacy and cybersecurity laws.
    • Familiarity and/or experience in the fields of consumer insights and marketing, as well as SaaS.
    • Ability to manage and work with outside counsel in both a domestic and international setting.
    • Current license to practice law in a U.S. state, preferably California
