The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) is the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted to funding innovative research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services. LRF’s mission is to eradicate lymphoma and serve those touched by this disease. To date, the Foundation has awarded more than $80 million in lymphoma-specific research.
The Associate Director of Distinguished Events will be responsible for the strategy and execution of a diverse portfolio of fundraising events, including the LRF Annual Gala, golf outings, luncheons, wine tastings and other select events. This position reports directly to the Director of Event Fundraising. The salary range for this position is $80,000-100,000 annually.
Responsibilities
- Direct LRF’s Distinguished Events Portfolio, including event strategy, design and implementation
- Work in conjunction with the Director of Event Fundraising to lead and implement the LRF Annual Gala
- Develop a two-year strategic plan for each initiative/event series, including fundraising goals, budget recommendations, vendor research, volunteer goals, timelines and logistics.
- Act as an on-site manager during all events, providing oversight of LRF staff, venue staff, vendors and volunteers
- Supervises Distinguished Events Development Coordinator (and/or contractor) in their role to recruit all volunteers, manage events logistics, in-kind outreach, online fundraising portal, and related activities.
- Oversee the creation and design of event collateral, including print and digital promotions
- Oversee staff who develop audience recommendations, invitation lists, committee membership, etc.
- Ensure the accurate recording of event revenue and expenses as well as the acknowledgement process in conjunction with database and finance colleagues.
- Oversee sponsorship strategy/outreach and collaborate with confirmed sponsors to ensure LRF delivers promised benefits
- Direct event committee recruitment and stewardship; lead committee meetings and efforts
- Actively and independently analyze industry trends; including data, safety protocols, and general events landscape to inform budget and expense projection and event strategy.
- Routinely review budget and expenses for the entire portfolio.
- In coordination with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and Director of Event Fundraising, steward and develop growth for returning corporate and individual sponsors.
- Lead moves management efforts with development colleagues to retain longstanding supporters that may move out of the Distinguished Events portfolio.
- Work cross-departmentally to ensure promotion of events across LRF’s website and social media platforms
- Prioritize professional development of team member by providing growth opportunities and mentorship, and by setting clear goals and objectives which they will be reviewed on through an ongoing process.
- Maintain ongoing familiarity with lymphoma research and trends within the lymphoma community.
- Perform other organizational tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree is required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in special event fundraising is required
- Previous experience as a program or campaign Manager/Director
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and a demonstrated ability to work well with others, as well as independently
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities to meet time-sensitive deadlines, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Skilled with Microsoft suite and Blackbaud products
- Willingness to travel (domestic), and work nights and weekends when needed
- Possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive to/from events when traveling
- Ability to lift and move supply boxes during event preparation and execution
- People who are immune compromised, including people in active treatment for lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, are more likely to become sick with COVID-19 or be sick for a longer time period; to keep everyone as healthy and safe as possible, staff must be vaccinated against Covid-19.
