Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Under limited supervision, reporting to the Director of Marketing Communications, the Associate Director of Communications assists in developing and executing an integrated communications strategy consistent with the university's overall branding and communication and reputation goals, including the promotion of major initiatives, strategic priorities, signature events, and core functions of the Division to key constituents. The AD provides messaging and communications support for campaigns that build awareness of the university and creates collateral documents, brochures, pamphlets, presentations, videos and other media that have impact.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Six years of professional experience in a client facing content strategy, marketing or public relations role. An in-house entrepreneurial spirit is desired.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Displays comprehensive knowledge of principles and methods of Communications and marketing programs. Demonstrates prociency in content management software, social media platforms, web analytics and social media monitoring. Must be organized, enterprising and a self-starter. Knowledge of Associated Press style is a must along with the ability to be a self-editor. Project management skills and an ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively with multiple teams are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a necessity for success in this role along with an ability to work as part of a team. Resolve problems through creativity, strategic thought, and planning. Stays abreast of industry best practices, communication and marketing strategies, new trends, developments in marketing and innovative ways to communicate to current and future stakeholders of the University. Prior experience in hiring, training and managing staff is preferred.

Job Duty
Strategy: Assist in designing or developing and executing an integrated communications strategy that supports the needs and priorities of the university. The strategy denes goals and tactics and includes a content/editorial calendar and follows best practices of channel optimization and audience segmentation that aligns with the university's overall brand and content strategy. Adherence to brand consistency and meaningful measurement of effort is required. Responsible for creating clear and effective written communication to stakeholders.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty
Content creation: With a commitment to clear and engaging communication, create a variety of cross-channel content including web stories, social media posts, press releases, and other university communications. Assists development programs in colleges/units with content communications.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty
Provide project management and consultation on projects as directed by the Director. Coordinate activities between staff and administrators within the university to meet deadlines and ensure timely completion of projects. Services include strategic marketing, event promotion, content strategy, public relations, design and creative services, printing services and vendor management.

Responsible for effective storytelling, including but not limited to web stories, videos, social content, newsletters, brochures, speeches, talking points, marketing points, infographics, photos and other collateral materials.
