Responsibilities and Duties
LEADERSHIP/STRATEGY Provide leadership and management for the continued development, effectiveness and visibility of Career Education and coaching utilizing guiding principles of inclusion, scalability, and innovation, with a focus on high impact career mobility practices; oversee career assessments, 1:1 coaching, and engagement functions to create a culture of Career readiness for students and alumni; develop and implement strategic objectives and processes for the career coaching needs of students and alumni; develop relationships and coordinate the implementation of these services with stakeholders; establish policies and procedures related to Career Center student engagement; and build capacity and implement professional development for faculty and staff to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with Career Center strategic goals. In conjunction with the Associate Director of External Relations & Partnerships, provide leadership to guide coordinated effectiveness within career community structure; provides oversight and support Career Education programming and initiatives including, but not limited to, EDUC121, Intern PRO, etc. Serve as a key member of the Career Center's Leadership Team; Leverage benchmarking and best practices and utilize data and assessment to measure progress and make informed decisions. This role will report directly to the Director of Career Communities.SUPERVISION Directly supervise and provide strategic leadership, mentoring and support for Career Education Team; provide support for managers of student employees. Develop strategic goals with Assistant Directors of Career Education and monitor career community success metrics and key performance indicators.STUDENT CAREER EDUCATION, EQUITY & MOBILITY Provide 1:1 career coaching and education to students in appointment based format; support, expand, and advocate for the career-related and professional development needs of a growing diverse student population across all academic colleges and majors; and develop and implement creative career programs for the student body to promote and enhance career equity and inclusion. Assess current programs and populations regarding diversity issues and use those assessments to propose and develop new initiatives with a particular focus on belonging, equity, and career mobility. Create and maintain campus partnerships to determine programmatic needs that support student Career Education, equity, and mobility issues on campus.WORKSHOPS/CAREER EDUCATION Develop and coordinate Career Education curriculum considering the unique professional and career development needs of underserved student populations; create and strategically deliver programming on career-related topics in engaging and innovative ways, including workshops, conferences, seminars, presentations, fairs, panels, networking events, etc.; lead efforts to develop and integrate career learning outcomes into programmatic efforts; and coordinate with relevant staff regarding marketing, logistics, and assessment.  LIAISON/CAMPUS RELATIONS Serve as the Career Center's liaison to College of Education and Graduate Studies to facilitate communication with faculty, staff and students in assigned liaison areas; provide career-related support to the units’ students/faculty/staff; increase stakeholder satisfaction and utilization; develop an increased understanding of the liaison unit needs, concerns, and field-specific content; deliver workshops and provide coaching to students; coordinate with colleagues to implement liaison unit career programming; and represent the Career Center on divisional and university committees.  PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TEAM CONTRIBUTIONS Proactively stay current on related professional topics, best practices, and trends to include TU and Career Center offerings, professional associations, independent reading, conference and other professional development programming; develop goals to implement and apply learning to practice. Contribute to office data collection and assessment by accurately recording engagement, programs, services and all other relevant touchpoints with internal and external contacts. Actively participate in staff and team meetings; provide support as needed to Center's programs and initiatives; and perform other duties as assigned that aid in the obtainment of the Career Center's mission. Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
Qualifications and Skills
    Master's degree in counseling, student affairs, higher education or related discipline.Five years of experience in supervision of professional staff.Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering Career Education content in group and/or individual contexts.Significant demonstrated experience supervising and mentoring professional staff and leading and managing career and workforce education services in a team-based and collaborative environment.Experience with administering career assessments.Proven record of developing a broad range of collaborative relationships.Commitment to high quality service delivery and innovation.Ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing.Knowledge of issues related to employment barriers, issues of workplace accommodations, and the needs of a diverse student population.Experience with the application of equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in higher education.Demonstrated comfort with technology.Understanding of nationally-recognized practices, trends, and procedures in university career services.Demonstration of data- and outcomes-driven work with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
