Associate Dean for External Relations& Partnerships

Job Summary:

The Associate Dean for External Relations& Partnerships, reporting directly to the Dean, holds the primary responsibility for strategic planning, oversight, and efficient administration of the College's external engagements and partnerships. Key areas under the purview of the Associate Dean encompass the Student Teaching and Field Placement Office, TEACh pipeline, Urban Cohort, the EHS Learning Lab, divisional partnerships, and the management of MOUs/Affiliate Agreements. Additionally, the role includes mentoring and coaching of divisional department chairs as well as overseeing the College’s graduate recruitment and global engagements.

Duties/Physical Demands:

The Associate Dean’s key roles for this position:
● Serve as a member of the Dean’s Leadership Team, including being an advisor to the Dean and other members of the College’s senior leadership.
● Supervise programs and staff in the Urban Cohort, EHS Learning Lab and Student Teaching and Field Placement Office, Graduate Recruitment, Regional Primary Education Cohort, TEACh Cincinnati Program, and International Programs.
● Oversee development of external partnerships that support the education and research mission of the college, including support for academic departments in effectively and appropriately developing internships and other experiential learning opportunities.
● Provide leadership for the development of undergraduate and graduate student pipelines.
● Work to expand, deepen and strengthen partnerships across all EHS departments and offices, developing synergy of engagement across those areas.
● Oversee and grow the partnership work and external funding associated with TEACh Cincinnati, Teacher Pipeline/Grow Your Own programs, including managing external funding, leading coordination and scaling efforts, optimizing state support for students, and creating and implementing an overall strategy for the College.
● Work in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Student Success to connect partnership/pipeline programs with the EHS Success Center.
● Lead fundraising efforts, in partnership with the Office of Advancement, related to essential duties.
● In coordination with the Director, engage in an ongoing and comprehensive review of the Urban Cohort to develop a plan for its long-term sustainability and growth.
● Provide oversight, processes, and administration of the College’s MOUs, serving as a liaison to General Counsel related to partnership efforts.
● Provide oversight for divisional scholarship awards, serving as the liaison to OFSA.
● Provide mentoring to and coaching of divisional department chairs with a focus on developing partnership work.
● In collaboration with the dean, develop a comprehensive strategic communications plan for the college, including working with the college’s external communications staff, including those in UCM and Development.

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned doctoral degree in a discipline within one of the College’s six departments: Educational Leadership; Educational Psychology; Family Science and Social Work; Sport Leadership & Management; Kinesiology and Health; Teaching, Curriculum, and Educational Inquiry; record of teaching, research, and service currently at the level of full professor or scholarship qualifications that merit and qualify the candidate to be a tenured, full professor in the College at time of hire; minimum of five years of increasing administrative responsibility in a higher education setting; experience working with pipeline programs; experience engaging in university, community, school partnerships.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with ten years of increasing administrative responsibility in higher education setting; successful experience in a chair position for 5 or more years; experience partnering with community-based organizations that work with institutions of higher education to develop programming that increases student diversity in areas related to programs inclusive to the College; experience in organizational development to promote synergistic, systems approaches to solving problems.
