Basic Function:

The Sr. Associate Dean of Student Support leads DU Cares, the university’s nonclinical case management program. DU Cares and the Associate Deansof Student Support aim to support student academic and social development; promote the effective use of campus resources, facilitate academic engagement; address disruptions to students’ academic and social stability; and manage situations causing distress in our community. In addition, this position develops and interprets policies that govern student success outside the classroom, including but not limited to leaves and returns.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide sound and deliberate leadership and supervision to DU Cares, the university’s nonclinical case management program, and the CARE team.
  • Partner across the university to provide support and advocacy for students who may be experiencing barriers to their success
  • Provide non-clinical case management services for high-risk/acute, medium and long-term student situations, including short and long-term planning with students, coordination of care, and effective referrals to campus and community resources.
  • Implement and adhere to case management standards and protocols and maintain contemporaneous and high-quality documentation in applicable database systems.
  • Coordinate and provide regular training to staff serving in the on-call rotation. Routinely serve in an on-call capacity in Tier Three, being available for consultation with Tier Two staff and responding in-person for emergency situations when needed.
  • Oversee implementation and management of several student-focused university policies, including but not limited to: medical withdrawal, hardship withdrawal, leave of absence, and general withdrawal.
  • Create and implement trainings and communication initiatives that informs and educates the community about DU Cares, responding to students in distress, campus and community resources, and increases awareness and capacity to understand the psychosocial, economic and basic needs of Students.
  • Assist in the appropriate and ethical assessment of cumulative case data to identify trends, areas for possible macro interventions, and evaluation of program effectiveness. Prepare monthly/annual reports, identify trends, assess effectiveness, and progress towards goals, measures, and opportunities to improve student success.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Five to seven years of professional full-time work experience in student affairs or student services with increasing responsibility.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in assisting students in crisis and/or who need high levels of support.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience serving on a multidisciplinary Student Support or care team; experience writing student-focused policies and procedures.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
Physical Demands:

Office environment which may include: sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
