A role within Owned Brand Product Development, the AssociateColor Developer is a part of a team of color experts who create products that truly embody the intent of Target-owned brands. Can you ensure that each product has the right color quality and match to support Targets floor pad mix of style, quality and value? Overview/ Position Overview
As an Associate Color Developer, you will be responsible for learning fundamental visual and digital color skills to support on time approval and feasibility needs. This includes the needs color coordination needs across both solid and print to support overall design concepts. Under the direction of the Color Developer team, assists in color development process to support design direction and research for color team projects and key strategic initiatives. You will proactively collaborate with cross functional team and global color office to continuously drive and enhance the color development process.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Product
  • Support Target Owned Brands by evaluating visual and digital color submissions.
  • Work with Color Development team to provide support when needed; may own a portion of special projects or business.
  • Track and communicate approval and performance status to CFTs and Business Partners
  • Partner with Developer team to troubleshoot color issues and manage FSRR approvals in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with CFT's and Global Color Team to support feasibility w/in color palette selections.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of industry-leading color development, quality expectations, facility manufacturing practices, and knowledge of color development and tracking systems.

Training
  • Support formal and informal color trainings to Business Partners
  • Facilitate connections w/in CFT's to drive knowledge of Color Team responsibilities in Product Development and enhance collaboration with the Color Office

Industry Outreach and Involvement
  • Partner with Color Developers and 3rd Party Providers to create and manage Target's Color Library
  • Build a network of 3rd party support to influence and drive continuous learning

Vendor Relationships
  • Develop an understanding of vendor and supplier relationships to proactively support and impact Team strategies associated with Supply Chain efficiencies, production quality and color accreditation

REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to Sr. Color Developer. Works closely with Principal Color Engineer, and Director of Trim & Color as needed, HQ and Global Color Team, Brand Design and cross functional teams, PSQR, Sourcing, vendors/suppliers, and 3rd party business teams.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • 4-year college degree in textile science, fashion merchandising, design or apparel production; manufacturing or industrial engineering; or product development related degree.
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience in retail, apparel or textile dyeing color evaluation
  • Superior Color Rating on Farnsworth-Munsell Hue test (or 100% pass on natific hue testing)
  • Basic knowledge of color and dyeing is preferred
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Outlook skills are preferred but not required
  • Must be comfortable with computer work and learning new programs
