Seize your opportunity as an Associate Cloud Engineer on the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) Hosting, Operations, and Maintenance Program (HOM). At GDIT, people are our differentiator.

The Associate Cloud Engineer will be responsible for working with a highly functional development team automating service deployments; optimizing system performance; integrating with enterprise authentication services; establishing/improving system monitoring; maintaining established security protocols; and providing customer technical support. The Associate Cloud Engineer will be integrated within an Agile environment participating with scrums and other meetings.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Study existing on-premises technology landscape and understand current application workloads.
- Understand and document technical requirements from our customer.
- Discover and inventory the on-premises computing environment in preparation for a cloud assessment.
- Assess the computing environment and applications in preparation for a cloud migration.
- Interview the infrastructure and application teams to document the enterprise.
- Create cloud assessment documents and artifacts.
Assist the Lead Cloud Architect with:
- Defining Cloud Migration strategy to move applications to the IaaS/PaaS.
- Developing architecture blueprints and detailed documentation. Create bill of materials, including required Cloud Services and tools.
- Designing the overall Virtual Private Cloud VPC environment including server instance, storage instances, subnets, availability zones, etc.
- Designing the Cloud network architecture including VPN connectivity between regions and subnets.
- Designing the High Availability (HA)/Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies.
Assist the Lead Cloud Engineer with:
- Setting up process, services, and tools around cloud.
- Overseeing the build of the cloud environment.
- Leveraging the appropriate Oracle Cloud services.
- Analyzing requirements and system architectures to refine system requirements, specifications, and design plans.
- Providing operational, management, and maintenance support for cloud-based solutions.
- Validating that the environment meets all security and compliance controls.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Business/Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
- Minimum one year of relevant experience in any of the major cloud providers
- Associate-level cloud certification from any of the major cloud providers
- Obtain Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Associate Architect certification within 3 months of hire.
- Learn and be able to script using Ansible and Terraform within 9 months of hire.
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU ALSO HAD:
- 2+ years of Cloud Infrastructure implementation and/or support experience (OCI preferably)
- System Integrator Consulting Experience
- Expert level using Ansible and Terraform
- Hold current Oracle Cloud Architect Professional Level Certification
- Exposure to automation and configuration management tools (e.g. Terraform/Ansible/Puppet/Chef)
- Experience of Continuous Integration and technology
LOCATION: Remote. Ability to work onsite in Windsor Mill, MD as required.
CLEARANCE: Ability to pass a CMS background check and meet the residency requirement of having lived in the US at least (3) three out of the last (5) five years.
