Job Description
Job Summary
The Associate Actuary supports the modeling required for various corporate reporting metrics, including the support of the Multi Year Plan, Cash Flow Testing, ALM, and other strategic initiatives within the company. In addition, they will assist in the annual experience study and assumption review process.
Organization
This position reports to the AVP, Actuarial Asset Liability Modeling. This person will have active involvement with Financial Planning & Analysis, Risk, and Corporate Actuarial function and personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate actuarial projections using AXIS modeling software.
- Assist in developing and validating asset modeling projections.
- Validate models to actual results.
- Provide sign off for AXIS model changes and perform change management testing.
- Assist in the annual business planning process including sensitivities, analysis, and narrative requirements.
- Perform and review experience studies and assists in the preparation of Actuarial Assumption proposals.
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor degree and 4+ years of related actuarial experience.
- ASA required
- Experience with general account insurance products, indexed products, life insurance accounting, and asset modeling.
- Knowledge of Statutory, GAAP, and Tax accounting
- Knowledge of general account insurance products
- Knowledge of Pension Risk Transfer is a plus.
- Intermediate knowledge and experience with AXIS or similar actuarial modeling system.
- Knowledge of industry best practices/methodologies.
- Sound knowledge of business and technical operations preferred.
- Some prior management experience preferred.

- Strong mathematical skills
- Knowledge of Statutory, GAAP, and Tax accounting
- Knowledge of general account insurance products
- Good communication and conflict resolution skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Self starter who can develop policies, procedures and processes
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at a functional level required
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities required
- Willing to challenge the status quo
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
