What You'll Do
As an Actuarial Associate on the Life Finance Valuation team, you'll join a collaborative environment, with the ability to work on multiple projects that drive value for the organization! This team performs a variety of work including reserve valuation, financial reporting, and financial analysis for the life insurance business.
You'll have the opportunity to:
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual valuation processes. Deliver timely and accurate reports for GAAP, Statutory, and Tax valuation.
  • Contribute to the continued modernization of the financial reporting function.
  • Complete actuarial projects assigned with consideration to timing required and quality of work, documentation needed, reports on progress and final results.
  • Promote the effective use of the actuarial techniques, tools, and methodologies in decision making.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research related to risk assessment and financial problem solving.
  • Provide analytical and research-based consultation to achieve cost effective and strategic solutions.
  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship to team members on the day-to-day functions.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of work experience, preferred within the actuarial field.
  • Successful completion of at least four courses in the education system of the Society of Actuaries. Preference to Associate of the Society of Actuaries or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
  • Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, the Actuarial Standards of Practice promulgated by the Actuarial Standards Board, and the Code of Professional Conduct of the AAA and the SoA is required
  • Must maintain continuing education requirements as specified by the SOA or AAA
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong Microsoft office and Excel skills preferred
  • Basic knowledge of business field supported
Skills That Will Help You Stand Out
  • Knowledge of MG-ALFA or other actuarial modeling software, spreadsheet and databases or similar PC software packages, or ability to learn, are preferred
  • Experience with Individual Life Valuation

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range
$77350 - $182400 / year

Work Environments
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You'll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
