Essential Functions
The School of Interdisciplinary Informatics, in the College of Information Science and Technology (IS&T), seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Information Technology Innovation (ITIN) with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2021. The ideal candidate will have a desire to teach unique undergraduate and graduate courses in an innovative, interdisciplinary college focused on serving a vibrant metropolitan area. New hires are expected to establish and maintain an extramurally-funded research program and productive collaborations with business and community partners. Other duties may include mentoring graduate students, engaging in service learning, and providing school, university, and professional service.

IS&T is an interdisciplinary college focusing on meeting the needs of a vibrant metropolitan area. The academic program portfolio of the college includes five undergraduate degree programs (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Bioinformatics, Information Assurance, and IT Innovation) and six Master of Science degree programs (IT Innovation, Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, and Biomedical Informatics). The college also hosts two Ph.D. programs in Information Technology and Biomedical Informatics. The college of IS&T has around 1400 students with roughly 1000 undergraduates.
The College of IS&T has nearly 60 full-time tenure track faculty/staff and an active research grants portfolio of $10 million with funds from federal agencies (e.g., NSF, NIH, Dept of Ed, NASA), state government (e.g., NRI, NSF EPSCoR, NU Foundation) and from a number of local and national agencies. The College of IS&T and the College of Engineering and Technology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are partners in The Peter Kiewit Institute of Information Science, Technology and Engineering, which offers further opportunity for interdisciplinary work and engagement with the community. The College is also a sponsor in the university-wide Center for Collaboration Science, National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center (NCITE), and the home of the NSA/DHS National CAE-CD and CAE-CO designated Nebraska University Center for Information Assurance (NUCIA).
UNO is a vibrant, metropolitan university in the state's largest city with an enrollment of approximately 15,000 students. In recent decades the campus developed as a more traditional residential university supported by several new and beautifully appointed residence halls. UNO is classified as a doctoral research university in the latest Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education and is in NCAA Division I for athletics. Required Qualifications
At the time of hire, candidates must have a doctoral degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field. For those applying for the rank of Associate, there must be a track record of extramural funding and scholarly articles in their relevant disciplines. For those applying for the rank of Assistant, evidence of potential for developing a robust research program should be demonstrated.
