General Summary: As the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology (AVP-IT), you will serve as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for SPU, providing strategic leadership in planning, developing, and implementing Information Technology initiatives to support university operations. Reporting to the Vice President for Business and Finance (VPBF), you will oversee campus technology strategies, infrastructure, data systems, and IT governance.
Job Duties
Strategic Planning and Coordination
- Lead the development of campus-wide technology strategies in collaboration with the VPBF.
- Advise university leadership on technology opportunities and decisions aligned with academic and administrative goals.
Technology Resource Planning
- Coordinate long- and short-term technology planning and resource allocation.
- Establish internal IT governance structures and prepare multi-year technology and budget plans.
Data Systems Management
- Oversee enterprise systems for managing institutional data.
Infrastructure Maintenance and Support
- Ensure preventive maintenance and support of computer, network, and telecommunication systems.
Technology Systems Management
- Lead planning, implementation, and maintenance of technology systems onsite and in the cloud.
IT Security and Compliance
- Develop and enforce IT security policies to safeguard the university's digital assets.
Staff Development and Management
- Recruit, develop, and supervise a high-performing team of IT professionals.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with academic and administrative units to understand technology needs.
Communication and Advocacy
- Communicate technology initiatives and priorities to university constituencies.
Job Requirements:
Essential Qualifications
- Master's degree in a technology or leadership-related field.
- 10+ years of experience in technology management or related field.
- Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and personnel management.
- Understanding of and commitment to the university's educational objectives.
- Proficiency in standard office software.
- A maturing and contagious Christian faith., knowledge of and the willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in a technology or leadership-related field.
- Significant professional experience and understanding of higher education.
- Leadership and Technology related certifications.
- Experience with Banner by Ellucian and/or Workday.
- Proficiency in Atlassian's suite of productivity tools.
Additional Information:
Position will remain open until filled.
Salary: $160,000 - $175,000 DOE
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
