JOB SUMMARY
- The Child Care Assistant assists the classroom teachers in all aspects of the program helping create a total learning environment for the individual needs of each child. The assistant is also responsible for classroom, center and equipment cleanliness in order to meet nurturing and physical care responsibilities of the children.
- Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines
- Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization
- Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures
- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs)
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License and meet auto insurability requirements as approved by Phoebe Putney Health System's insurance company.
- General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
- May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
- May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
- May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. May be scheduled as needed including overtime
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Vocational / Technical Degree in Certificate (TCC) in a related field, preferably in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) concentration, in lieu of a Technical College Certificate (TCC) a valid, current Child Development Associate (CDA) or a valid, current Paraprofessional Certificate with 2 additional years experience (Required)
- 2+ years Assisting or teaching a group of young children in a child care setting (Required)
- Required Certifications/Licensures: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) obtained with 1 year of hire, Satisfactory Criminal Records Check determination (Cogent)
- Preferred Certifications/Licensures: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
