Form of workCASE is actively seeking an Assistant Teacher with industry experience and familiarity with how game development studios operate for our Game Academy 2D course. In this course students will learn fundamental skills in creativity and technology, explore careers in software and game development-all while making their own computer games.
The ideal candidate is comfortable teaching coding in MIT's Scratch programming language and has experience teaching students the principles of game design, character design, character animation, FX animation, background design, project management, and coding.
This course aims to provide students with hands-on experience playing and making their own games. Teachers must be able to instruct and advise students through the process of designing, iterating, and beta testing computer games. The ideal teacher is a confident leader comfortable with helping students learn to work individually as well as on a team as part of a mock game development studio.
Position Details:
- Work Year: 9 Months
- School Year: 2023-2024
- Work Hours: Scheduling is based on individual student schedules and availability
- Starting Hourly Rate*: $31.00/Hour
- Associates Degree or equivalent college experience and training in related field.
- One (1) year of experience supervising students in an elementary school setting.
- CPR Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of subject areas, grade-level curriculum and content.
- Demonstrated familiarity with curriculum, teaching methods and assessment frameworks in the subjects and age ranges; and age-related expectations of students.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds; an understanding of the developmental needs of young children, sensitivity to each individual student's needs; and ability to appreciate the variety of perspectives offered by individual viewpoints, disciplines and cultural understandings.
