Job Description
Summary
The Assistant Teacher Floater is responsible for working with a cohesive teaching team, assisting with coordinating the curriculum, mainly the language arts program and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Asst. Teacher Floater must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Asst. Teacher Floater must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children.
Duties
- Help to coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and NJ learning standards and NAEYC standards. Experience with Kindergarten Language Arts is required.
- Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
- Ensure the health and safety of the children and classroom
- Communicate effectively with Parents
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
Requirements
Floaters must be comfortable working with children 21/2-5 years old. CDA and HighScope is highly recommended.

Familiarity with ASQ-3 Screening Tool, ELA Assessment tools such as Dibels, phonemic awareness and Fountas and Pinnell Assessment tools, Fundations Phonics program
