Assistant Surveyor

Start your survey career at a Best Places to Work company.  Wood Rodgers is hiring an Assistant Surveyor to join our Survey Division located in Pleasanton, CA.  This position is open for someone that is passionate about (or at least really likes) land surveying and mapping. You'll be doing various tasks such as ALTA Surveys, Records of Survey, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, plats and exhibits, legal descriptions, easement documents, topographic mapping (including drone data acquisition), photogrammetry, and construction staking calcs for a wide range of public and private projects and clients.

What you will be doing

• Preparing detailed drawings from record maps, deeds, sketches, plans, specifications using various computer software such AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Global Mapper and Pix4D.
• Interpreting field notes and sketches and processing field data.
• Performing various computations including closure calculations for surveys, plats, easements, etc.
• Using software to assist in production of detailed topographic surveys utilizing data collected from conventional and GPS surveys, terrestrial and aerial LiDAR.
• Preparing ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Record of Surveys, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, and other various survey related documents.
• Preparing legal descriptions and exhibits for parcel and easement acquisition.
• Compiling land title information from title reports and records research.
• Pre-calculating survey data pertaining to construction staking surveys.
• And of course, "other duties as assigned."

The Ante

• High School diploma, or equivalent experience required.
• 1 to 6 years of relevant work experience.
• Must have knowledge of topographic, boundary and legal principles.
• Must be proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Knowledge in reading and understanding construction plans pertaining to construction staking.

Things we'd like to see

• Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) certification
• Geographic Information System (GIS) experience
• Trimble Business Center experience
• Project experience with land development and public works
• Survey field experience
• A strong desire to learn more about land surveying.
