For more than 30 years, thanks to shoppers, donors, and the team of staff & volunteers, Arc’s Value Village has provided funding for The Arc Minnesota programs and services, benefiting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Our helpful staff is trained to provide excellent customer service in a fun, friendly, and clean shopping environment.

This Assistant Store Manager will work alongside the Store Manager to direct the day-to-day operations of the store. Assistant Managers are responsible to:

  • Ensure that all Arc’s Value Village team members provide excellent guest service
  • Ensure that established financial goals are met
  • Train and support team members to meet hourly and daily/weekly production goals and other individual and team standards
  • Coach and mentor employee performance
  • Demonstrates and models The Arc Minnesota Values of Human and Civil Rights, Self-advocacy and Self-direction, Equity and Belonging, and Disability and Racial Justice.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Pro-actively and positively responds to guest (volunteers, shoppers, donors) concerns and issues
  • Supervise and manage the work of both paid and volunteer staff
  • Maintain compliance of performance standards for all positions and ensure that performance standards are timely and effectively measured in performance reviews
  • Leads team members others to follow The Arc Minnesota Customer Standards
  • Effectively communicates and ensures that employees and volunteers are able to share current and accurate Value Village and Arc Minnesota information and policies with guests
  • Ensures store meets or exceeds annual goals for sales and net profitability goals
  • Follows budgetary guidelines and ensures accuracy in monetary transactions
  • Ensures internal controls and loss prevention strategies are followed to maintain business security/integrity
  • Leads and ensures donor team maintains smooth donation flow from donor door to production area
  • Promotes store marketing strategies
  • Promotes and leads efforts to ensure that all staff and volunteers follow store safety policies
  • Effectively utilize volunteer teams and maintain an environment that fosters volunteer program growth
  • Provides appropriate store training and orientation to Value Village volunteers
  • Coordinates presentation of seasonal and special in-store events, ensuring increased sales growth
  • Maintains and directs others to keep the store in grand opening condition
  • Presents attractive and safe sales floor, fully stocked with high quality merchandise
  • Arrives to work on time/completes assigned shifts with few exceptions
  • Participates as part of a of the VV team, placing a priority on teamwork and positive attitude
  • Participates in management meetings and trainings as required
  • Completes diversity and harassment trainings and follows established procedures

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS preferred, High School or GED Certificate required
  • 3-4 Years Retail management Experience preferred
  • Able to communicate and effectively lead customers, donors, and volunteers
  • Competent with basic technology (Microsoft Suite)
  • Able to lift boxes and bags that weigh 30-50 lbs.
  • Able to bend, stoop stand, and walk continuously throughout assigned work shifts
  • Able to work varied hours/days as business dictates
