Under the supervision of the University Registrar, this position is responsible for managing the Registration and Transfer evaluation processes. The Assistant Registrar ensures the development and management of the transfer credit process according to University policies, including timely articulation and evaluation of transfer credit and the creation of course equivalencies using the Student Information System (Ellucian Colleague) and TES/Transferology. This position coordinates with deans, department chairs, directors, and University staff in other offices to create and maintain course equivalencies, and facilitates credit evaluation-related projects. This position will oversee all student registration-related activities including coordinating the registrar-related activities of orientation. Offers some hybrid work flexibility (up to 1 day per week remote work).


Responsibilities:

  • Manages the transfer equivalency review process and TES/Transferology in coordination with various departments. Effectively communicates with students, faculty, and staff about transfer credit, College, and University policies.
  • Ensures that transfer work is evaluated consistently and accurately throughout the University in coordination with deans/department chairs.
  • Uses judgment, interprets and applies university policy to accurately assess and enter all external credits (transfer, AP, IB, etc.) into the Student Information System and updates student degree audits.
  • Facilitates an effective student registration process for new and continuing students, and coordinates registrar-related activities for new-student orientation. Collaborates with other college and university offices to resolve student Registration and record problems.
  • Manages consortium and third-party agreements.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and manages student workers.
  • Supports cross-training and other specialists within the office when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • One year of experience in admissions, registration, student services, or a related field is advantageous.
  • One or more years prior experience in an office setting serving the public with professional and courteous qualities.
  • Knowledge of College Source TES and Transferology products.
  • Knowledge of Higher Education Registrar software such as Ellucian Colleague.
  • Excellent facility in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel, and ability to use related office equipment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality; working knowledge of FERPA.
  • Ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures and worldviews, both individually and as part of a team, and to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Success managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines, establishing goals and priorities, and demonstrating personal initiative working without close supervision.
  • Professional written and oral communication skills. Ability to effectively present information to a wide range of constituents.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
