The Department of Counselor Education Programs at Grand View University is seeking to fill a full-time remote tenure track position for an assistant professor principally responsible for coordinating, supervising, and managing the academic aspects of the student practicum and internships of the school counseling program. We especially welcome applications from individuals trained in school and clinical mental health counseling, even though this is not a minimum requirement.
This faculty member will have all the rights and responsibilities of other full-time faculty at Grand View University in similar leadership positions. A strong commitment to the academic success of our Grand View University Graduate students, including students of color, students with disabilities, students who are the first generation to college, veterans, diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and diverse sexual orientations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have an earned doctoral degree in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have related doctoral degrees and have been employed as full-time faculty members in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.
- have sustained memberships in professional counseling organizations
- Possess or obtain full licensure as a school counselor within the first six months of employment.
- Evidence of sustained professional development, research, scholarly activity, service, and advocacy in counseling
- Prior experience with course design and online teaching
- One to three years of supervision experience.
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program
- Possess other recognized school counseling-related credentials (e.g., NCSC; ACS)
- Ideally, experience providing clinical mental health counseling and being a fully licensed mental health counselor or fully license eligible but not required.
- One to two years of teaching experience in a Counselor Education and Supervision program
- Prior experience with course design and online teaching using Blackboard and Tevera
- Three to five years of supervision experience
- Familiarity with CACREP standards
DUTIES:
Successful candidates must meet a tenure-track faculty member's teaching, scholarly, and service expectations. These include the following:
- Teach a minimum of 18 credits per year, including teaching practicum and internship courses that require weekly faculty supervision.
- Assist the Program Director with the operation of the counseling programs
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate graduate counseling students' field placement.
- Monitor, assess, and guide field placement and provide support and consultation to students and site supervisors.
- Become familiar with technology to assess student competencies and benchmarks.
- Engage in research/scholarly/continuing education activity appropriate to the discipline to maintain licensure.
- Actively participate in related professional organizations, including ACA but not limited to.
- Organize practicum and internship manual, course development, and site placements.
- Provide reports, assess, and guide field placement and site supervisors and updates to the Program Director on student progress, the status of clinical/field sites, and problems encountered in placements and remediation.
- Attend and participate in the department's yearly residency
