Job Summary
Assistant Professor
 
The College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor. This is a regular title series position reporting directly to the School Director with appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2024.  
 
Qualification and Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities for this nine-month appointment include topics primarily in instructional communication. The instructional communication research ( ICR) group in SIS is responsible for teaching the basic course to nearly 5,000 students annually. Research areas might include, but are not limited to, online instruction, instructional communication technology, instructional communication in different contexts, or multi-modal communication. Candidates are expected to hold an earned Ph.D. or be in ABD status in communication, instructional communication, or a related field at the time of the interview. The Ph.D. is required by August 2024, for the successful candidate to hold the rank of Assistant Professor and begin the probationary period toward tenure.    
 
Candidates will be expected to teach a 2-2 teaching load at the graduate or undergraduate level in instructional communication\ with opportunities to teach across the School's programs. This position will have an expected distribution of effort of 50% research, 45% teaching, and 5% service. Faculty are expected to teach, advise students, maintain a personal research program, participate in professional activities, and serve on university committees. Opportunities exist to work with doctoral students in the College's interdisciplinary Ph.D. program.
