Job Summary:

The Department of Community & Leadership Development in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky seeks applications for a 9-month, tenure eligible Regular Title Series, Assistant Professor of Community Engagement.
The successful candidate will initially divide efforts among instruction (50%), research (45%), and service (5%). Faculty assignments and division of efforts are subject to annual negotiation between the chair and faculty member.
Distribution of effort for teaching will contribute to undergraduate and graduate instructional programs offered by the department and include teaching 3-4 course annually, depending on the incumbent’s assignment related to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, which contribute to the teaching distribution of effort. As a national leader in community-engaged learning and scholarship, UK-CLD offers a variety of courses that incorporate service learning and Community Engagement.
Distribution of effort for research come with expectations to develop a nationally recognized
research program that is innovative and collaborative, and funded by competitive external grants,
in community engaged research. The areas of research may include analysis of policies affecting
land ownership and public revenues of communities in Appalachia, and/or other rural areas of the
commonwealth, including, policies affecting economic and energy transition, and land-use in
agricultural and forestry industries. The successful candidate is expected to publish research
results in peer-reviewed journals.
Distribution of effort for service will initially be 5 percent, with expectations for service on
selected committees that support the mission of the department, college, and university; and
provide leadership to professional societies.
Potential applicants should also have an interest in collaboration and instruction that supports the
linkages between CLD, and other units on campus involved in CE and community-engaged
participatory research.

In addition, the department offers an M.S. degree in Community and Leadership Development.
