Primary Purpose of the Organizational UnitResponsibilitiesinclude:
- Teaching, advising, and supervising a vibrant community of diverse populations and first-generation students.
- Offering courses in Lighting Design, lighting technology, projections, portfolio preparation, and other Design and technical theatre areas as qualified.
- Experience in developing and creating syllabi and curricula that de-center Western/Eurocentric l approaches to Design and Technology courses.
- Production duties include the practical mentorship of student Lighting Designers and electricians, directly supervising hang and focus and related equipment for departmental productions and designing lighting for School of Theatre season productions as needed.
- Assisting in student recruitment.
- Serving on departmental, college, and university committees.
- MFA in Theatrical Design or equivalent professional experience with expertise in Lighting Design and Technology, proficiency in drafting, visual communication techniques, and active professional achievement as a Lighting Designer.
- Experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion in creative activity and research, teaching, and service.
- Candidates will show proficiency in current software and lighting systems, projection design, and Technology, as well as demonstrated experience in lighting diverse populations.
- Innovation in university-level teaching, de-centering curricula, and experience in inclusive teaching strategies are also highly desired.
