Position Summary
The Biology Department at Utica University seeks a mammalian systems physiologist with a focus on renal, digestive, reproductive, or musculoskeletal physiology who can contribute to teaching courses such as Animal Physiology and Research Methods I for majors, Anatomy and Physiology for non-majors, as well as other departmental course offerings. Research Methods I, the first of two foundational research courses in our research-based curriculum, teaches students basic parametric and nonparametric statistical analysis as well as experimental design. Persons with expertise using bioinformatic skills and analysis of large datasets in their research agenda are particularly encouraged to apply.
Departmental teaching and research occur in our brand new, state-of-the-art Science Center that opened in 2021 and houses animal care facilities, a microscopy room, dedicated research spaces, and custom-designed and outfitted teaching laboratories.

Major Responsibilities
The Department of Biology has an innovative approach to undergraduate education that emphasizes reading, performing, and writing research throughout the curriculum. We seek a colleague who is committed to teaching a diverse student body at an undergraduate institution and who will contribute to an energetic, collegial, and cohesive department.
Responsibilities of the position involve teaching 24 contact hours per year (generally 4 class sections, 12 contact hours, during the fall and spring semesters), including both entry-level and upper-level courses, as well as establishing a research program that includes undergraduate students.

Postdoctoral research and experience teaching undergraduate students preferred. Ph.D. by start date required.
Minimum Skills/Abilities
Post doctoral research and college teaching experience is preferred but not required.
