GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Instruct courses in the OTA program at the level of required Occupational Therapy knowledge and skills (includes lecture and lab); serve as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator including developing fieldwork sites, maintaining ACOTE standards, and conferencing with fieldwork educators and students during placements to ensure success; curriculum development and assessment; student recruitment and retention, including academic advising for program majors and pre-majors; selecting appropriate textbooks for program courses; maintaining office hours; participating in college committees; facilitating community awareness of the program; participating in professional development and evaluation; working across departments to develop student potential. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned which could include non-traditional venues, such as evening, weekend, dual credit, blended, and/or online courses. This is a full-time tenure track eligible faculty position and receives general direction from the Program Director, Occupational Therapy Assistant and exercises no supervision. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. OTA program planning and review. 2. Subject matter and instructional design and materials for OTA program courses. 3. Curriculum design and revision, taking into consideration accreditation requirements. 4. Relationship and role delineation between OTA's and other aspects of the Texas Occupational Therapy Assistant Practice Act and Rules. 5. Student advising. Ability to: 6. Provide instruction for OTA courses, lecture and lab. 7. Evaluate student knowledge and skills. 8. Select appropriate fieldwork sites. 9. Prepare schedules 10. Manage accreditation requirements. 11. Develop and assess curriculum. 12. Manage resources appropriately, including material, financial, and human. 13. Participate in professional development. 14. Promote awareness of the OTA program in the community. 15. Advise students and participate in recruitment and retention activities. 16. Support and participate in activities of the college. 17. Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing. 18. Utilize a personal computer and other technology for communicating, maintaining records, developing and presenting course materials, etc. 19. Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs.) some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant educational program and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an educational or related field.
Experience: Minimum three years clinical experience in Occupational Therapy
Special Requirements: Possession of, or ability to obtain licensure in the state of Texas as an OT or OTA within 60 days of hire date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in an educational or related field.
Experience: One-year academic teaching experience.
