Essential Functions
The University of Nebraska at Omaha's Teacher Education Department is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Early Childhood/Elementary Mathematics Education to join our dynamic and growing team. We are seeking candidates who are accepting and affirming of all people and who have experience in methods of instruction in cultural competency and diversity inclusion. Successful candidates for the position should also have experience in technology and culturally relevant pedagogies and experience teaching in grades PK-6.
Duties include teaching Early Childhood/Elementary Mathematics Education courses, both at graduate and undergraduate levels; scholarly research and publication; contributing to the diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts; partnering with the Mathematics Department on common initiatives; working with STEM initiatives on campus; working with state initiatives in Mathematics Education; supervising field experiences; collaborating with schools; and participating in institutional initiatives directed toward excellence in Teacher Education.

Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate in mathematics curriculum and instruction or related field required. ABD considered.
Successful candidates must have knowledge of theoretical underpinnings and teaching methods and assessments for Early Childhood/Elementary Mathematics Education; at least three years of successful full-time teaching experience as a teacher in grades PK-6; evidence of scholarly research and professional service; and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with: prior university teaching experience, evidence of excellence in teaching; involvement with supervision of university students in field experiences; experience as a mathematics specialist and/or mathematics coach; working with students in culturally/linguistically diverse student settings; collaborative research experience; collaboration experience between a university and public schools; knowledge of instructional technology in PK-6 curriculum; experience with online or blended teaching and learning; external funding experience; and prior experience in leadership roles in higher education.
