RESPONSIBILITIES: This is primarily a teaching position, the Assistant Professor of Agronomy will teach classes in the area of Agronomy, Soil Science, and related topics in a typical classroom, laboratory, the University Farm (Derrickson Agricultural Center), or an internet-based environment. They will work with other faculty, the Farm Manager, and staff to strengthen the program and prepare students for positions in the industry.
REQUIREMENTS: The Assistant Professor should possess a doctorate degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, Weed Science, or related field, and if the rank is granted upon appointment, there must be evidence of scholarly, artistic, or professional achievements. Doctoral candidates may be considered and hired as a Visiting Assistant Professor; when terminal degree is obtained, the employee will be eligible for transition to tenure track status.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience in higher education and evidence of scholarly or professional achievements beyond the minimum qualifications for this rank.
