Location: The Brennen School - Delawre Autism Program
Reports to: Principal of the School
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: To assist the principal in the operation of the instructional program and to provide educational leadership for the staff, the students and the community. These responsibilities include establishing a climate conducive to learning; defining roles and expectations for school staff; planning, coordinating and supervising all programs in the school and identifying needed modifications; and administering changes, which result from local and statewide decisions.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification as a School Principal/Assistant Principal
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
- Autism experience preferred

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: To assist Administration in the following:
- Organize, direct, and evaluate the milieu instructional program, both curricular and extra-curricular; and implement new curricula consistent with the Delaware Autism Program's educational objectives through cooperative planning with the staff, community, and central administration.
- With the Principal, lead the development of a contemporary model of educational services and interventions for students with Autism children including a collaborative model for related services including speech, behavioral, psychological, occupational and physical therapies.
- Provide instructional leadership for the use of Applied Behavior Analysis in classrooms for our young children
- Develop an efficient system of pupil and program appraisal within the program.
- Effectively utilize support personnel in the delivery of services to students and teachers.
- Communicate with local civic and service organizations to interpret and explain policies, programs, and needs whenever possible.
- Promote the development of leadership among the professional and supporting services staff.
- Select professional and supporting services staff.
- Observe and evaluate school personnel as prescribed by the Department of Education.
- Develop and follow through on a teacher evaluation plan consistent with the District and ensure that all school personnel receive performance evaluations at appropriate times.
- Plan milieu educational programs that meet student individual needs.
- Plan and execute procedures for obtaining and maintaining approved instructional materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Support individual student's team's implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans.
- Collaborate with school administrators who host Delaware Autism Program classrooms to assure quality of services.
- Respond to other responsibilities as assigned by administration.
- Enforce a school discipline plan based on the Board-adopted Student Rights and Responsibilities Code.
