Comprehensive benefit package (health care, vacation, etc.) FLSA: Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Continuing Part-Time/Full-Time: Full-Time Union Group: Ferris Faculty Association (MEA-NEA) Term of Position: 9 Month At Will/Just Cause: Just Cause Summary of Position: This position will provide instruction for the following programs: Product DesignEngineering Technology (PDET), Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) and Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MFGE). Additional programs including Plastics, Electrical/Electronics, Automotive, and Welding Engineering Technology take service courses from these programs and will therefore also be served by this position. This position will be responsible for PDET 220 which is a Cultural Enrichment General Education course which will impact students from across the University.This position will serve mainly as an instructor for the PDET program but will also teach additional courses in the new Automation Certificate currently proposed by the Manufacturing Engineering technology program. The position will also be used to help teach a service course offered by the MET program.
The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2024 at the earliest and January of 2025 at the latest. Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing Required Education: A Master's or higher-level degree in Engineering Technology, Engineering Management, Mechanical Design, or Technical Education.
At least one Bachelor of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree in field. Required Work Experience: Seven (7) yrs industrial experience in the Mechanical Design and Engineering of Manufactured products.
Must include 2 years of 3D modeling experience with emphasis on Design for Manufacturing.
Must include 2 years of experience in automation/robotics. Required Licenses and Certifications: Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional

Additive Manufacturing - experience operating 3D printers and various auxiliary equipment Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Teach all courses as assigned.
Grading of all assignments and assessments will be the responsibility of the instructor.
Attend and facilitate all lab sections.
Will be required to teach at off-campus location in Grand Rapids (approximately 1 hour away) in addition to on-campus courses.
Must be able to present material in a clear and concise manner.
Will be expected to support other program curriculum delivery based on industry experience and knowledge of topic areas.
- Teaching the following topics: Parametric Modeling, GD&T, Machine Design, Mechanism Analysis, Prototype construction, Robotics & Automation.
- Perform student advising for class schedules and academic career objectives
- Hold regularly scheduled office hours
- Fulfill committee assignments as required
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
