Unit Highlights:

• The Cardiothoracic Stepdown PCU unit is an intermediate critical care 36-bed unit responsible for the care of the cardiothoracic, cardiac and lung post-surgical patients.  Nurses in this clinical area have the unique opportunity to learn how to care for our specialized surgical population recuperating from major cardiac and lung surgeries.  Providing care to patients that include those with heart failure, pulmonary embolism, coronary artery bypass surgery, lung resection, vascular stenting, heart and lung transplants and other procedures as well as overflow from any of our cardiology sister units.  This is in conjunction with our amazing interdisciplinary team consisting of critical care physicians, cardiologist, respiratory therapy, and registered dietitians. Daily rounds are conducted so that disciplines come together to coordinate patient care priorities, establish daily goals, and plans for discharge.

• Serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America

The role you'll contribute:

The ANM is a registered professional nurse who supports the Nurse Manager or Director in overall operations of their assigned unit.  Is able to demonstrate critical thinking skills, creativity, and has the knowledge to manage resources to achieve quality performance, positive employee relations, and compliance with hospital guidelines. The ANM is skilled in coaching, mentoring, and leading a professional and technical team in the delivery of services to our patient population. The ANM assures quality of care is delivered to our patients and demonstrates effective stewardship of scarce resources. Is supportive of change activities on their unit and works to assure implementation of change that may occur.  Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

*Terms: 24 month Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation

Sign-on Eligibility:

• Applicable experience required.
• Internal Candidates and Rehires within 12 months are not eligible. 

Relocation Eligibility:

• Must live 50 miles outside of campus address.
• Rehires within 12 months are not eligible. 

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

• Associate's degree or Diploma in Nursing
• Specific experience as delineated by the unit of employment
• Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Advanced Life Support Certifications (ACLS) per specialty/unit requirements
• EKG competency

Preferred qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree of Nursing (BSN) or Master's degree in Nursing (MSN)
• Professional Certification
