Camp Loyaltown is a large residential summer camp for developmentally disabled children and adults. Our Campers range in age from 6 years to 80 plus years old; most of the campers are between 10 years old– and 60 years old.
The Camp Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to the Nurses and Health Center staff in the absence of or by direction of the Nurse Manager, and assure that the Health Center runs smoothly and effectively for both campers and staff.
In this role, you will:
- Review of medical records, preparation and pouring of daily medications to the assigned unit in the absence of staff/unit nurse if schedule requires.
- Assess priority 1 campers daily and priority 2 every other day in the Health Center clinic; ensure documentation for the same.
- Ensure documentation of camper/counselor health concerns on clinic logs and ensure review of these logs daily.
- Ensure medications and treatments are administered safely and in compliance with agency policy and procedure and that documentation of the same is completed.
- In collaboration with the Health Center Assistants, review of Campdoc health information on a daily ongoing basis to ensure new information is communicated to nursing staff.
- Participate in daily activity of running the clinic portion of the Health Center.
- Follow routine first aid/triage approach to care of campers and staff.
- Communicate with parents/families and CLS/CRP staff as well as physicians and hospital staff-(if pertinent) regarding any change in a camper's health status; including continued follow up on all medical issues and plan appropriate care in the event of illness/injury.
- Responsible for submitting a daily report of medical concerns to the Camp Assistant Nurse Manager.
- Responsible for audit preparation and including coaching camp nurses for audit, and following all DOH policies and procedures.
- Obtain, review and maintain health records for staff.
- Adhere to all regulations, agency policy and procedures, the employee handbook, and agency and program training requirements.

We require:
- NYS certification as a Registered Nurse
- CPR/AED certification yearly as per DOH camp regulations
- Good organizational and administrative skills and an excellent team player with a positive attitude
