MD Anderson Cancer Center has an Assistant Nurse Manager opportunity in the Cancer Prevention Center. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in nursing and at least three years of clinical nursing experience, including at least two years of oncology and two years of supervisory or management experience. Experience working in an area with high patient volume preferred. Must have the ability to effectively communicate and deal with crisis management while working well under pressure.
In collaboration with center leadership, the Assistant Nurse Manager will assist oversee human resource activities for all clinical staff, including recruitment, retention, supervision, evaluation, and productivity.
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
Shift: Monday - Friday variable hours (contingent on clinic start time).
KEY FUNCTIONS
Transformational Leadership: Implements and monitors unit budget to respond in a cost-effective manner to changing patient, staff and multidisciplinary team requirements and strengthen unit.
Assists in preparation and delivery of unit staffing plans considering skill mix, staff and patient care requirements.
Analyzes plans for compliance with established budget.
Assures continuity of care as patients' transition across the continuum through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.
Practice with autonomy within the scope of professional nursing.
Structural Empowerment: Participates in identifying, recruiting, developing and retaining top talent through effective communication, performance management, career counseling, and conflict resolution.
Participates as active member in shared governance model at unit and institutional level.
Accountable for identifying barriers to patient care and solutions.

EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Three years of clinical nursing experience.
Successful completion of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center New Graduate Nurse Residency Program can be substituted for two of the three required years of clinical nursing experience.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Required:
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
