Nuseed has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Molecular Biologist, based at our state-of-the-art Innovation Center in West Sacramento, California. This role will work as part of a science team to apply doubled haploid laboratory and growth chamber-associated activities for the production of high quality and quantities of embryos, plantlets and DH seed year around at Nuseed.
The Opportunity :
Prepare and execute microspore culture process steps, embryo generation & transfer, haploid identification, plantlet regeneration and germination into healthy plants.
Follow and improve laboratory research protocols to successfully extract microspores from donor plants for production of Doubled Haploid plantlets under the direction of Molecular Biologist.
Use research technical equipment (Flow Cytometer) to interpret and record plant chromosome copy number.
Prepare regularly fresh liquid and solid media for microspore isolation, embryo transfer, embryo germination and plantlet regeneration.
Maintain chemical and/or supplies inventory database, laboratory equipment and accurately tracking of reagent use.
Support novel discovery research projects.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Genetics or Biotechnology or and Associates degree with 3-5 years of hands-on demonstrated experience in molecular biology procedures, double haploid, media preparation and plant tissue culture techniques in a laboratory environment. This role requires the ability to multi-task multiple projects and possess effective verbal and written communication.
Salary Range: USD $75,000-$85,000
