Job description

Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at its main campus in La Grande, OR. This position is a 10-Month, Part-Time, .22 FTE position, that reports directly to the Head Men’s Soccer Coach.
The Assistant Soccer Coach assists the head coach in all facets of the program to develop an elite NAIA soccer program that will be competitive and advance the team in the competition, academics, and in the community. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and possess the ability to lead, teach and coach student-athletes in a challenging environment. The assistant coach will have a strong focus on recruiting and coaching instruction.
Assists the Head Men’s Soccer Coach in all areas including:
  • Monitors and evaluates student-athletes performance and provides appropriate feedback.
  • Teaches skills, techniques, and strategies for team play.
  • Assists in the coordination and execution of plans for practices.
  • Helps coordinate film breakdown.
  • Assists with recruitment efforts.
  • Supports the team by traveling to the competition.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the head coach.

Responsibilities
Recruiting
  • Assist the Head Coach to successfully research, scout, evaluate and contact prospective student-athletes while operating within the guidelines of the department, institution, and NAIA at all times.


Training
  • Assist the Head Coach to design, conduct and monitor all athletically related activities per NAIA and institutional regulations regarding competition, practice, and conditioning opportunities.
  • Work with the Head Coach to evaluate student-athletes performance in competition, practice, and conditioning situations in order to identify strengths and areas of improvement.
  • Provide leadership during competition, practice, and conditioning sessions to facilitate proper technique and attitudes towards each other, opponents, and athletic department.

Competitions
  • Assist in the development of sound game plans and strategies for the team in preparation of competitions.
  • Assist team-related game day activities including practices, pre and postgame meals, travel, lodging, and any related functions.

Public Relations/Fundraising
  • Participate in public relations activities as approved by taking part in interviews with print, radio, or television media.
  • Represent the university at professional, civic, booster, or alumni events as requested.
  • Take an active role in any general Booster Club and/or department activities intended to secure resources for the department. Be actively engaged in a civic organization of your choice.

Administrative Duties
  • Assist with the development of overall facility schedules as it relates to competitions, practice, visiting teams, and camps.
  • Cooperate with all other coaches and staff in order to further enhance the operations of the entire department and university.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of collegiate soccer experience.

  • Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Eastern Oregon University will not sponsor applicants for employment visas.
