Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor is currently searching for an Assistant Manager of Spa & Fitness to join our team!

The Assistant Manager of Spa & Fitness is responsible for overseeing the operations of all Spa and Fitness areas including but not limited to Lorelei spa reception and treatment rooms, bridal suite, fitness classes, and overseeing team of technicians, stylists, fitness instructors and other team members in these areas. The Assistant Manager reports to and works closely with the Manager to maintain a clean, safe, and friendly environment for all guests utilizing the Spa and Fitness areas.

All duties are performed in accordance with department and Sunseeker Resorts policies, practices, and procedures.   

Job Duties

  • Supervise Spa and Fitness staff in the performance of creating luxury experiences for guests at the spa, bridal suite, event programs, provider training and fitness programs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes. Be an expert in your areas.
  • Ensure that proper cleaning, upkeep and maintenance of the Spa, Bridal Suite and Fitness Center and conduct safety, efficiency, and integrity checks of all areas.
  • Perform and monitor regular inventory and order needed items for the departments. Maintain and order supplies for both departments on timely basis.
  • Create staff schedules for Spa and Fitness team. Oversee team members are following clock-in procedures correctly and accurately and ensure payroll is completed accurately and timely on a weekly basis.
  • Meet and exceed budgetary revenue goals and account for all revenue collected through program fees.
  • Continually seek new and exciting programs and ideas to improve, expand and keep the overall departments on trend and relevant.
  • Plan, organize and evaluate programs for efficiency/participation and adapt programs as necessary. Work directly with leadership for coordination of special functions.
  • Monitor customer service ratings and directs efforts to maintain proper standards.
  • Ensure team members are following all service standards, department policies and procedures.
  • Oversee timekeeping of all team members to ensure proper clock-in procedures are followed and Spa and Fitness Center operations open/close on time, to include fitness classes.
  • Clearly communicate company policies and objectives to direct reports, ensuring their implementation throughout the respective departments.
  • Conduct or attend daily pre-shifts ensuring communication of all relevant information is relayed to each department.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with inventory control, loss prevention, risk management, safety, and security.
  • Assist in preparing daily/monthly reports of department activity.
  • Perform employee recruiting, training, counseling, and performance evaluations.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment when evaluating new programs, new services, and new ideas.
  • Stay abreast of property goals to create support and present departmental goals to spa leadership. 
  • Continue to learn and be on the forefront of new technology for the Spa and Fitness industry, be an expert in your field.
  • Create ways to further enrich the guest experience by continuously reviewing, implementing, and refining procedures to ensure every opportunity to offer extraordinary guest experiences while maintaining a culture of smiles and retention of luxury standards.
  • Proactively seek guest feedback and liaise with other departments when opportunities present themselves ensuring a seamless and elevated guest experience.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Manage guest requests and own all complaints; resolve issues immediately and follow up to ensure the guest’s satisfaction.
  • Develop collaborative relationships and synergy with all support departments such as Convention Sales & Services, Facilities, Security, Front Services, Front Office, F&B, Golf Course and Executive Offices.
  • Coordinate fitness classes, mixers, and other group activities.
  • Foster a team that possesses and delivers on key strategies of guest service, employee relations, team cooperation, financial responsibility and asset management.
  • Ensure all accounting, payroll and employee relations matters are handled in compliance with company policy
  • Perform other functions as needed.

Minimum Requirements

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered.  Sunseeker Resorts performs criminal background checks on all candidates. Candidates will need to be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986.   • High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Current, valid Florida Massage License in good standing required.
  • Minimum of two (2) - four (4) years' of experience in the Spa & Fitness industry in a full-service luxury spa, or health club setting.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a departmental leadership role.
  • Working knowledge of fitness facility standards, equipment, class and recreation trends, appointment systems and strategies, and reception desk systems
  • Experience with Forbes Star standards a plus 

Other Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Able to communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to function well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet established deadlines
  • Must possess mature personal discretion and sound judgment
  • Strong leadership abilities, sound judgment, superior problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and project management skills, with particular attention to quality and detail
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
