Reisterstown Pet Resort & Spa is a full-service animal care facility offering lodging, grooming, and daycare located on 7 acres in Reisterstown, MD. We are looking for the right candidate to join our growing facility.

 

Reporting to the Resort Manager, the Assistant Kennel Manager is responsible for assisting the Resort Manager within our fast-paced Pet Resort. The Assistant Manager will assist the Resort Manager with HR functions including hiring/staffing, training, performance management, and instituting/maintaining compliance with policies and procedures that ensure safe and efficient practices as well as administrative tasks and client relations.

 

The Kennel Manager is responsible for providing a clean, efficient and healthy environment for the animals being treated or boarded at the resort. A day in the life of a Kennel Manager:

    • Ensure the cleanliness of the resort, including kennel area, runs, grooming salon, and outside grounds.
    • Ensure all boarded animals are fed and medicated properly
  • Monitor and record important information about the animals’ conditions, behavior and habits (elimination, eating, etc.).
    • Ensure pets in Daycare receive playtime at least 3 times a day and all boarded pets receive assigned activities.
    • Notify the owners of unusual medical or behavioral problems and seek treatment as needed.
    • Maintain laundry throughout the day and keep the laundry area neat.
    • Assist the groomers and kennel staff with restraint and treatment of animals.
    • Monitor and maintain the kennel inventory to include food, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, etc.
    • On-boarding and training of kennel staff, ongoing staff management and leadership.
    • Perform other duties as assigned that assist the Resort Manager, Receptionist, Groomers and Kennel staff in the smooth flow and operation of the resort, care of clients and service to the clients.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets, and teammates.
  • Partners with the Resort Manager to address staffing needs including hiring, training, reviewing, and coaching staff
  • Utilize computer systems to document records and communicate with clients and teammates.
  • Reconcile End of Day reports and check daily deposits.
  • Proactively demonstrate the ability to show empathy toward clients and treat pets with compassion and respect.
  • Address and work to resolve employee conflict and behavior.
  • Manage the financial needs of the resort by maintaining accurate balances through collection of client transactions, cash and credit card handling procedures, and opening and closing procedures.
  • Meeting and exceeding business goals and objectives.

 

  • Must possess excellent communication and conflict management skills.
  • Experience leading a diverse work force and establishing a positive team environment.
  • Experience leading a team in a veterinary environment is a preferred.
  • Flexible scheduling including some holidays and weekends.
  • Salary range $22.00- $24.00/hour based on experience
