Duties
  • Exercises professional judgement and considerable discretion in giving advice to the IG and senior OIG staff on positions and courses of action.
  • Provides advice and asisstance on matters of a critical, controversial and confidential nature.
  • Oversees OIG records management, including advising the IG on policy solutions and managing implementation of standard operating procedures, consistent with GAGAS and CIGIE.
  • Oversees OIG recommendations follow-up program to include advising the Inspector General and Assistant Inspector General.
  • Sets direction for and supervises all personnel assigned to the Assistant Inspector General for Managementand Policy.
  • Apply performance management concepts, principles practices, and regulations, regarding planning, monitoring, advising on the rating, and rewarding of employee performance.

  • You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.

  • TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify

Qualifications
To qualify for the Assistant Inspector General for Managementand Policy, PG - 0301 - 15, you must meet the following requirements:
Specialized experience at the next lower grade levels PG-14 include: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (PG-14) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that must include but not limited to the following duties:
Planning, coordinating and execution of business functions, resource allocation and production. Utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods for assessing and improving program effectiveness and complex management processes and systems. Understanding OIG policies, regulations, precedents and planning guidlines and processes; Using research and fact finding methods and techniques to research programs; drawing conclusions and making recommendations for improved processes and procedures.
Certified Contracting Officer expericence is beneficial but not required.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (03/14/2024) to be considered.
Education
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Background Investigation:
For a Suitability:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a background investigation for Suitability. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background check for Suitability. This review could include fingerprints and credit checks, as well as a full field FBI background investigation and tax and bar checks for attorney applicants. The background investigation covers a period of seven to ten years depending on the nature of the position; this process may take 6 weeks or longer. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer, if the candidate is unable to pass the background investigation.
The selectee will work shift 1.
