Description
Under immediate supervision, oversees school tour programming at Historic Bethabara Park; manages tour guide staff; assists with the planning, organization, and supervision of activities and operations of Historic Bethabara Park; does related work as required.
Examples of Duties
Creates, advertises, implements, and evaluates educational programs at the Park, including but not limited to school tours, summer children’s programs, demonstrations, and workshops; assists with developing, scheduling, and implementing family programs and public program activities; cultivates new and existing relationships with schools, educational groups, and community organizations; assists with day-to-day operations of the Park; trains, manages, and schedules tour guide staff; books and staffs school tours, adult tours, workshops, and other tours; assists with gift shop operations, including stocking and maintaining gift shop inventory; assists with special events; at the direction of the supervisor, investigates and acts upon requests, suggestions, and complaints concerning facility use and services; enforces park rules and regulations and assists in maintaining discipline; assists with attendance records and creating budgets for programs.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in History, Museum Studies, Public History, Education, or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the techniques and methods of supervising historic site activities;
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement education programs for a variety of audiences, especially K-12 students;
Effective organizational and supervisory skills;
Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional weekend days;
Ability to research, organize and present historical information;
Ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with employees and the general public;
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing;
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite as well as Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Forms, and Drive;
Experience in social media management a plus.

Physical Requirements: This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires standing, walking and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using of measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
