Assistant Groundskeeper

J:

This position is responsible for maintaining the grounds of the House of the Seven Gables’ campus in a clean, attractive, orderly, and safe condition. Communicates and works closely with the Maintenance Groundskeeper/Onsite Caretaker and others to ensure the quality upkeep of campus grounds.

· Under the direction of the Maintenance Groundskeeper/Onsite Caretaker, maintains lawn areas, including seeding, watering, mowing, trimming, weeding and raking.

· Prunes bushes and trees; Rakes and properly disposes of leaves; spreads mulch

· Maintains walkways and paths

· Performs other maintenance duties as needed, including cleaning, waste removal, prepping work areas and painting, etc.

· Performs minor equipment maintenance

· Assist with basic repairs and installations

· Assists with setting up and breaking down of facility for special functions and events

· Performs other grounds keeping and maintenance duties, as required

· Landscaping experience preferred but not required

· High school diploma

· Knowledge of workplace safety

· Willingness to learn traditional horticultural care methods to adhere to the Gable’s historic preservation needs

· Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs

· Physical stamina and ability to climb ladders, lift and carry objects

· Utilizes power and hand tools such as, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, shovels, picks, etc.

· Works inside and outside including during inclement weather, such as heat, rain, cold and snow.

· Exposure to chemicals included in commercial cleaning products and paint, within safe OSHA limits

This position does not require any supervisory responsibilities

Pay: From $17.71 per hour
