Assistant Graphic Designer - Corporate Services (Kansas City)

The Assistant Graphic Designer will support public relations, marketing and sales departments with the design and execution of print and other graphics, incorporating appropriate interpretation to meet our internal client's communications needs. The designer will work in support of the external website projects and internal client projects leveraging UX/UI experience to create impactful experiences for our various audience segments. This individual will work closely with a widely disciplined team of web development, infrastructure, design, content, SEO and UI/UX professional to perform tasks throughout various stages of a project.  A curiosity to want to learn, research and develop solutions to better the user experience is a must.

• Lead with design thinking to produce engaging, intuitive, enjoyable user experiences.
• Assist with developing approved concepts into multiple campaign components.
• Assist with converting written communications into graphics that support and enhance the client's communication, as well as the brand.
• Ensure brand guidelines are followed for brand consistency.
• Produce final files for production both in print and digital deliverables.
• Ability to animate design concepts for digital experiences.
• Assist in development of creative ideas and concepts.
• Attend client meetings to understand project design objectives.
• Conduct market research before developing design concepts.
• Assist with presentation of concepts to clients.
• Attend creative "think tank" sessions.
• Perform varied illustration skills, including rough sketches.
• Assist in photography sessions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to define problems and goals, map user flows and brainstorm solutions.
• Help with the creation of wireframes using Figma.
• Work closely with team to assist in the implementation and evolving of the multi-brand design system.
• Assist on the update of previous shared component libraries and ideating on new components.
• Support in performing user research and user testing.
• Assist in relevant project management efforts.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in fine arts/graphic design or visual communication required or
• Associate degree in fine arts/graphic design or visual communication and 2 years of related experience; and a portfolio supporting that background required.
• Basic Knowledge of industry-standard graphic design and layout software (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) with comprehensive understanding of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Basic Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Ability to problem-solve, skills and transform complex ideas to graphic representations.
• Demonstrate ability to apply color theory and color relationships.
• Demonstrate understanding of good layout principles.
• Basic conceptualization skills for alternative printing, production and packaging techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong visual proofing and error-checking skills.
• Skill managing tight deadlines for concurrent projects with various teams.
• Ability to manage work on multiple fast-paced projects.
• Basic HTML knowledge a plus.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
