Definition
This is a part-time opportunity with many benefits! As a Missoula County employee, you will be part of a team that is committed to positively impacting the community. The base rate of pay for this position is $21.76 per hour.
The Larchmont Golf Course is seeking an ASSISTANT GOLF PRO to join their team. The Assistant Golf Professional assists the Head Golf Professional in the management of day-to-day golf operations of the facility. The position is responsible to supervise and manage total golf operations in the absence of the Head Golf Professional. All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and satisfaction of all customers.

Representative Examples of Work
  • Assists with golfer check-in and fee collection; control and manages play times.
  • Assists with all opening and closing procedures of the golf course.
  • Assists in managing facility
  • Directs and participates in the maintenance of the tees, greens, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and cart paths.
  • Assist in repair and maintenance of irrigation system and irrigation computer programming including pump maintenance. Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
  • Fundamental supervisory practices and principles
  • Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Self-motivated with desire to promote and market
  • Service and customer focused attitude
  • Experienced in written and oral business communications
  • Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies
  • Utilize the resources of PGA player development programs such as Get Golf Ready, PGA Sports Academy, Tee it Forward and others
  • Maintains and repairs the motorized and other mechanical equipment.
  • Assists in maintaining the buildings, parking areas, fences, and does related work as required.
  • Serves in the superintendent's capacity during his/her absence.
  • Assists in scheduling work and assists in supervising employees to ensure they use equipment and related tools in a safe manner.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Maintain PGA Of America membership in good standing in an active classification.
  • Must actively pursue PGA membership (if PGA Apprentice) in a timely manner through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) program.
  • Two years of golf course experience preferred.

Physical/Environmental Demands
Work is performed in an office and outdoor setting and physical activity may be performed on the Larchmont course. Requires frequent walking, stooping, bending, climbing of stairs and lifting of moderate to very heavy objects. Seasonally involves long hours outside of the normal business week. Involves assistance in technology operation; frequent walking on rough and uneven terrain, climbing stairs; exposure to rural "out building" environment; and some exposure to inclement weather. There is some travel to state and national conventions and seminars.

Excellent Medical Health Benefits - Group health benefits, including dental and vision coverage, are available to eligible County employees. The medical health benefits premium is covered for full-time employees. The County contribution is pro-rated on hours paid for part-time employees. The employee pays the premium portion for dependent coverage. Family health benefits coverage is $258.00 per pay period.
Medical deductible is $500 for an individual and $1,000 for a family.
Flexible Benefits Plan - Pre-tax out-of-pocket medical expenses and day care expenses.
Voluntary Life Insurance Coverage, Long and Short-Term Disability, Critical and Accident Insurance are offered through Mutual ofOmaha.
Public Employees Retirement System - Montana public employees of the state, university system, local governments and certain employees of school districts are covered by the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). New members to the PERS have an opportunity to choose between two retirement plan options: the Defined Benefit Plan or the Defined Contribution Plan.
Sheriffs' Retirement System (SRS) - A public pension plan for all Montana Sheriffs hired after July 1, 1974 and Detention Officers hired after July 1, 2005.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness- Working for Missoula County may qualify you to receive student loan forgiveness. Look to learn more and understand whether you may be eligible.
Supplemental Retirement Benefits are offered through Valic or Nationwide.
Sick Leave - Full-time employees accrue 7.38 hours per month and are eligible to use sick leave once you have been an employee for 90 days. The accrual is pro-rated for part-time employees.
Vacation Leave - Full-time employees accrue 9.24 hours per month and are eligible to use leave after continuous employment for a period of 6 full months. The accrual is pro-rated for part-time employees.
Holidays - The County observes eleven legal holidays in even numbered years and ten legal holidays in odd numbered years.
Paid Parental Leave (PPL)- In recognition of the importance of bonding and care of a newborn child or a child placed for adoption, Missoula County 6 continuous weeks of PPL to eligible full-time employees that have been with the county for 180 days. The hours are pro-rated for part-time employees.
