Description
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the EVREDCO Fuel Venture General Manager, the Assistant General Manager will help organize and operate the Fuel Mart and fill in for the General Manager as necessary. This position will be key in ensuring that staff meets the goals of efficiency and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have retail management skills with a sharp business mindset.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills are a must. Interpersonal and mediation skills will be critical as this position will serve as liaison between managers, employees and customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be added to, changed, or deleted at the sole discretion of management.
  • Assist the General Manager in planning and implementing strategies to attract customers.
  • Coordinate daily customer service operations (e.g., sales processes, orders and payments)
  • Track the progress of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual objectives.
  • Monitor and maintain store inventory.
  • Evaluate employee performance and identify hiring and training needs.
  • Supervise and motivate staff to perform their best.
  • Coach and support new and existing staff.
  • Monitor retail operating costs, budgets and resources
  • Suggest sales training programs and techniques.
  • Communicate with customers and evaluate their needs.
  • Analyze consumer behavior and adjust product positioning.
  • Handle complaints from customers
  • Research emerging products and use information to update the store's merchandise.
  • Create reports, analyze and interpret retail data, like revenues, expenses and competition.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure the store is functionable and presentable.
  • Make sure all employees adhere to company's policies and guidelines.
  • Act as our store's representative and set an example for our staff.
  • Any other duties assigned by the General Manager

Position Requirements
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly manages employees and supervisors in the Elk Valley Tribal Fuel Mart. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience
Associates degree in approved related field/s or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; OR (2-3) years related experience in a retail environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a retail environment as a supervisor or manager is preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present and provide information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as discounts, interest, fractions, ratios, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Review and/or audit internal documents to ensure accuracy of purchases, revenue, and errors of transaction.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of uncertain variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret, communicate, and delegate instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and suggest a plan of action as necessary.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook e-mail, internet, faxing, printing, copying, POS programs, and signage changes & interaction with the Casino customer service/rewards program.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
Must have a current valid driver's license and receive UST Certification if hired.
The following trainings will be offered post-employment and are required within the training schedule timeframe: Sexual harassment prevention supervisory, preventing and managing computer related injuries, driving safety, safety orientation, incident investigation, workplace violence, back safety, aerial & scissor lift, drug and alcohol abuse for managers, hazard communication, cyber security, bloodborne pathogen, office safety and office ergonomics.
Physical Demands

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals; and exposure to airborne particles; may be exposed to high heat areas and/or weather conditions (heat,cold, wet, and windy).
