Assistant General Counsel—Orlando Office

Attorney admitted to practice in Florida with 2- 5 years of increasingly responsible law firm or in-house legal experience needed for in-house position reporting to a supervising attorney and General Counsel.

Duties:
As part of the Legal Department, this person will be exposed to a wide range of subject areas but will primarily support the supervising attorney in providing legal research, advice, and other assistance to our company’s Insurance and Financial Services Department. Key duties will include legal research, advice, and direction for insurance claims staff who handle litigated and non-litigated liability, property, and workers’ compensation claims; coverage analysis; contract review, drafting, and interpretation covering various subjects; insurance policy document review, drafting, and interpretation; and legal counsel to managers of claims, finance, and marketing teams. Finally, this attorney will provide general legal services to the company’s executive management team in areas which may include legal research, personnel matters, research and analysis of proposed legislation, research and analysis of local government law, special projects, and other areas as needed.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following: excellent academic credentials; strong legal research and writing skills; initiative; good professional and business judgment; good interpersonal skills; the ability to work independently, as part of various management teams, and/or with outside counsel and vendors; and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated contract drafting, civil rights liability, employment practices liability, insurance defense/first-party property insurance coverage defense, and/or local government law experience.

Compensation:
Commensurate with experience.
